Why we charge a clinic visit fee

Because our clinical staff work under physician supervision, your visit is not billed to OHIP and is classified as an IMG (International Medical Graduate) assessment. OHIP does not compensate IMG physicians directly for these assessments.

As a result, a clinic visit fee is charged to cover the IMG’s professional time and clinical services, allowing us to continue providing accessible local care to the community.

• IMG assessment (not OHIP-covered): The fee covers the IMG’s time and services, as IMG assessments are not paid by OHIP.
• No impact on your family doctor: Because this visit is not billed to OHIP, nothing is deducted from your family doctor.
• Supports continuity of service: The fee helps maintain clinic staffing, physician supervision, and daily operations.
• Transparent & receipted: Receipts are provided; some private insurance plans may reimburse eligible items (coverage varies).
